About us
Fattoria Resta is located amidst the rolling clay hills of the Sienese countryside, near the town of Buonconvento 25 km south of Siena. The existence of a community on this site is documented as far back as the thirteenth century, though the farm buildings now standing date from the sixteenth century.
The farm complex consists of a large villa built as a square around a central courtyard, a chapel, and, across the courtyard, a small house which was probably originally built as a farm outbuilding - possibly an olive press - and converted in the nineteenth century into a home for the land agent or fattore in charge of overseeing work on the farm.
The windows of this little house look southward over rolling hills planted with fields of wheat, hay, and sunflowers, vineyards and olive groves fading in the distance toward the hilltop town of Montalcino.
This is where I live and work for much of the year, and this is where I have welcomed numerous friends and family members as my guests over the past few years. It is to them, and to the new friends and visitors of the future, that this site is dedicated.
